Abu Dhabi: The Emirates Red Crescent Authority (ERC) is preparing to dispatch emergency humanitarian aid to people affected by Hurricane Maria, which recently hit Puerto Rico in North America, causing dozens of deaths and considerable damage.

The move is in line with the directives of President His Highness Shaikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, His Highness Shaikh Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, and His Highness Shaikh Mohammad Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Abu Dhabi Crown Prince and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces.

The aid delivery is being closely followed up by Shaikh Hamdan Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Ruler’s Representative in Al Dhafra Region and President of ERC.

Shaikh Hamdan said the UAE has been an active player in emergency cases and crises around the world, with its relief activities and operations are being implemented in all regions and areas hit by natural disasters.
