Dubai: The UAE has dedicated August 28 of each year as Emirati Women’s Day in recognition of the strategic role of Emirati women in the sustainable development of the country.

Shaikha Ameenah Humaid Al Tayer, Chairperson of the Dubai Women’s Association, praised this initiative and congratulated Her Highness Shaikha Fatima Bint Mubarak, Chairwoman of the General Women’s Union, Supreme Chairwoman of the Family Development Foundation and President of the Supreme Council for Motherhood and Childhood, the Mother of UAE, on the day for her outstanding efforts and leading role in women’s empowerment and her unstinting support for development and progress across the Arab world.

She said: “The celebration by Emirati women of this day marks a milestone and exceptional event in the march of women in the country, and is also honour bestowed on women in recognition of their contributions to the nation.”

Shaikha Ameenah said the day also comes in line with the UAE strategic vision 2021 towards a brighter future, in order to establish the culture of allegiance and devotion to the leadership and nation.
