Dubai: Dubai Police’s electronic awareness games were chosen for a 2016 Edison Award, which was held in New York on Thursday, April 21, Dubai Police announced today.
Dubai Police’s electronic awareness games, which employ cutting-edge video game technologies to communicate awareness messages and strengthen national identity and sense of belonging to the UAE, was awarded the bronze award in the Applied Technology category for cyber safety.
Dr Mansour Nasser Al Razouqi, director of the Virtual Technology Centre at Dubai Police’s Smart Services Department, received the award on behalf of Dubai Police.
Colonel Khaled Nasser Al Razouqi, director of Dubai Police’s Smart Services, said the award is a result of Dubai Police’s efforts and initiatives to turn all their services into smart services accessible through smartphones.
According to the award’s website, being recognised with “an Edison Award is one of the highest accolades a company can receive in the name of innovation and business success”.
The Edison Awards honours excellence in new product and service development, marketing, human-centred design and innovation.
Winners are chosen as the “best of the best” by the world’s top senior business executives, academics, and innovation professionals.
The award is named after Thomas Alva Edison (1847-1931) whose inventions, new product development methods and innovative achievements changed the world, garnered him 1,093 US patents, and made him a household name around the world.
This year’s edition comprised 16 categories, which included cyber safety, financial solutions, forensics and security, sports and travel and energy and sustainability.
