Dubai: Dubai Police seized 82 cars of reckless drivers, of which six did not have number plates and attempted to hit police patrol cars.

Major General Khamis Mattar Al Mazeina, Dubai Police Chief, said that respecting traffic laws and regulations is a reflection of the person’s respect for himself and other road users.

He said that Dubai traffic patrols tracked a number of reckless drivers and seized 82 vehicles in Al Hibab, Al Aweer, Al Qudra, Emirates Road, Al Barsha and Shaikh Mohammad Bin Zayed Road.

Six of the vehicles, he said, had no number plates and attempted to hit police patrol cars belonging to Al Faqa’a and Al Hibab police stations, putting their lives and that of others in danger as they were driving recklessly at speeds exceeding 200km/h.

Dubai Police are working with the Roads and Transport Authourity (RTA) to calculate the damages to public property caused by the various drivers, and make a claim for the money through court.

Photos provided by Dubai Police showed that a number of cars had illegal and dangerous modifications made to the engine.

People can report anyone who breaks traffic laws or reckless drivers either by calling 901 or 8007777 or 8004353 or through email on mail@dubaipolice.gov.ae.
