Dubai: Now, Dubai Police military personnel will be able to report traffic violations they encounter with ease, through the new “Smart Traffic Fine” app launched on Thursday.

Civilian Dubai Police employees are not eligible to use the app, but they can use the “We are all Police” app, which is also available to the public.

The app will allow Dubai police’s personnel to report traffic violations and issue the tickets through their smart phone.

This move is in line with the directives of His Highness Shaikh Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, on the transformation to smart government and initiatives to make Dubai a smart city.

Brigadier Khalid Nasser Al Razouqi, director of the Smart Services Department, said, “The fines can be inputted into the application using voice or image or by filling the form, and the fine is then issued electronically to the violating vehicle,” he said.

The app, he said, is only for military personnel, as per the instruction of Lt-General Khamis Mattar Al Mazeina, Dubai Police Chief.

Adding that the app aims to give Dubai Police’s military personnel a sense of duty even outside their official working hours and deepen their sense of loyalty, in addition to enforcing road safety at all times.

Brig Al Razouqi said all traffic police personnel have already received training to use the application.

Dubai uses some of the most modern traffic systems and services in the world so that it can achieve one of Dubai Police’s main objectives, which is to reach zero per cent traffic fatalities.

The Smart Dubai Initiative aims to transform Dubai to the smartest city worldwide, through 100 initiatives and 1,000 smart services to improve the quality of life in the city.
