Dubai: Dubai Police said they are working on an app feature that will measure the public’s happiness.

Major General Khamis Mattar Al Mazeina, Dubai Police Chief, announced this at a press conference revealing Dubai Police’s new internal system to measure Dubai Police employees’ happiness, which was launched on Sunday.

“The new smart system called the Pulse of Happiness rates the happiness, allows employees to express their satisfaction with the work environment, and helps us get their feedback and change anything that needs to be changed,” he said.

Employees pick one of three options, happy, neutral or unhappy.

On Sunday 3,765 members of Dubai Police logged in their feelings, some of them multiple times a day. Of the 3,765, 1,892 said they were happy, 989 said they were neutral, 884 said they were unhappy.

The system can be accessed easily through a smartphone.

Maj Gen Al Mazeina said that the system makes it easy for employees to express themselves anywhere; even police officers in their patrol cars can access the system.

“If we see that there are a lot of people that are unhappy in one department, then we know there is a problem there and address it immediately,” he said.

He said that the system will be on trial for three months, and then it will be made available to the public after a few changes.

“This will eliminate the need for a suggestion box, as the public can easily send their feedback anytime and anywhere,” Maj Gen Al Mazeina said.

The second phase of the feature will enable employees to add comments, explaining their feelings.
