Dubai: Municipality has said that construction sites not complying with safety regulations can be shut down. A first and second warning will be issued and site inspections carried out, to ensure that labourers are working under the correct health and safety procedures, for example, wearing protective clothing.

Fawzi Mohammed Al Shehi, Acting Director, Building Department, said: "After the first and second warning, they can be closed for a period, to ensure the workers are working in safety."

Dubai Municipality has issued a new safety manual, targeting construction companies and contractors, with stricter regulations regarding fire safety precautions.
