Dubai: Dubai Municipality announced the allocation of the first-of-its-kind endowment parking lots, where the money collected will go towards supporting environmental and health awareness social campaigns.

This is in a bid to achieve the global vision of endowments and donations laid down by His Highness Shaikh Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, and is in coordination with the Mohammad Bin Rashid Global Centre for Endowment Consultancy (MBRGCEC).

The MBRGCEC granted Dubai Municipality the Dubai Endowment Sign, which denotes that it is an authority supporting endowment and a role model for institutions operating in the emirate.

Hussain Nasser Lootah, Director General of Dubai Municipality, said the parking lots are for trucks, and is run by the municipality and are the first worldwide to be allocated for endowment.

“The department was firm about allocating the money that is collected from the parking’s rent for this noble purpose that the wise government was keen to encourage,” Lootah said.

“Dubai Municipality is keen on supporting all initiatives launched by the wise leadership in the scientific, social, humanitarian, and economic fields. This stems from our deep awareness of our social and institutional responsibilities towards the whole community on the local, regional, and international levels,” he said.

Lootah praised MBRGCEC and its employees for their contribution in achieving the goals which benefit the community.

Dr Hamad Al Hammadi, Secretary General of MBRGCEC, said, “The innovative endowment that was launched by His Highness Shaikh Mohammad, opened the endowment doors for all categories of the society and its institutions.”

Dubai Municipality’s adoption of the concept of innovative endowment by launching the first endowment parking lots in the world would encourage people to come up with innovative ways endowment could be adopted, he said.

Al Hammadi said their website www.MBRgcec.ae is ready to receive all enquiries from interested individuals and institutions willing to obtain the Dubai Endowment Sign.
