Dubai: Dubai Central Laboratory (DCL) under Dubai Municipality tested nearly 12,500 samples of diamonds and precious stones during the recently held Dubai International Jewellery Week 2017, the civic body has said.
The DCL received 426 inspection requests from visitors, who purchased various items in the exhibition. The inspection requests contained 12,493 samples of diamonds and stones of various kinds such as ruby, sapphire, emerald and other precious and semi-precious stones.
“Our participation was through three main focuses, namely the examination of valuable collectibles, control and inspection and verification of the accuracy of electronic scales,” Ameen Ahmad, director of DCL, said in a press release.
Abdullah Al Hosani, head of the Legal Metrology Unit, said DCL’s participation had a great impact on guaranteeing the rights of traders and consumers and protecting the society from cheating and fraud to ensure the fairness of commercial transactions in the emirate of Dubai.
