Dubai: Shaikh Hamdan Bin Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, has approved the launch of the Dubai Innovative Strategy involving 20 initiatives to be implemented over the next three years, to make Dubai the world’s most innovative city.

The move is in line with the directives of His Highness Shaikh Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai.

Shaikh Hamdan was updated on the details and objectives of the strategy by Mohammad Abdullah Al Gergawi, Minister of Cabinet Affairs and Head of the Executive Office of Shaikh Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum.

He was informed about the 20 initiatives that will shortly be launched and the phases of their implementation and the time schedule.

The Dubai Innovation Strategy is focusing on 10 sectors — renewable energy, transport, education, health, technology, water and space, hospitality, economy, tourism and government services.

It will complement the National Innovation Strategy, which was launched by Shaikh Mohammad last month, to achieve the UAE Vision 2021.

Shaikh Hamdan said, “We launched the Dubai Innovative Strategy under direct instructions by His Highness Shaikh Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum to make Dubai an innovation hub for more than two billion people around the world.

“Dubai has all the fundamentals and capabilities that qualify it to become the most innovative city in the world, inspired by Shaikh Mohammad’s vision that supports innovation and facilitates all the work mechanisms and tools necessary to be in the forefront. We also have one work team made up of both the public and private sector and all segments of society. We are pressing ahead with our plans to realise our target,” Shaikh Hamdan said.

He added that the strategy would help stimulate the city’s innovation potential, and welcomed everyone, including individuals and organisations, to develop new and creative ideas that help develop performance and achieve better results.

Shaikh Hamdan stressed that innovation is everyone’s responsibility, including Dubai’s residents, visitors and admirers to collaborate and work together to further support innovation efforts.

He highlighted the need to coordinate work among all organisations and bodies in Dubai as well as to work as one team to achieve the required goals.
