Dubai His Highness Shaikh Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, on Monday received Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his delegation.

Shaikh Mohammad reiterated the deep-rooted historical relations that bind the UAE and India.

The two leaders explored ways to strengthen the friendship and cooperation on strategic grounds that ensure the interests of both countries and people.

Modi expressed his confidence in the leadership of the UAE, the friendly country, which is home to the largest Indian community that enjoys care and respect and preservation of the rights and freedom of belief.

He stressed his country’s desire to attract Emirati investments, especially in marine and air transport, information technology and space science.

Modi invited Shaikh Mohammad to visit India which he accepted.

Shaikh Hamdan Bin Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, and Shaikh Maktoum Bin Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Deputy Ruler of Dubai, were present.

The meeting was also attended by Shaikh Abdullah Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Foreign Minister, Mohammad Abdullah Al Gergawi, Minister of Cabinet Affairs, Sultan Saeed Al Mansouri, Minister of Economy, Dr Anwar Mohammad Gargash, Minister of State for Cabinet Affairs, and other Shaikhs and senior officials.

‘Building partnerships’

Earlier, His Highness Shaikh Mohammad Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Abu Dhabi Crown Prince and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, received Modi. During the meeting held at Emirates Palace, Shaikh Mohammad and Modi discussed bilateral relations and exchanged views on a number of regional and international developments of mutual interest.

Shaikh Mohammad Bin Zayed hosted a lunch banquet in honour of Modi and his accompanying delegation. They later continued their discussions that focused on all issues related to driving bilateral relations and cooperation towards new levels of joint work and building strong partnerships that are based on mutual interests.

The lunch banquet was attended by Shaikh Mansour Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Presidential Affairs; Lieutenant General Shaikh Saif Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, senior officials and members of the delegation accompanying Modi.

Meanwhile, Shaikh Hazza Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, National Security Adviser and deputy Chairman of the Abu Dhabi Executive Council, welcomed Indian National Security Adviser Ajit Kumar Doval at Emirates Palace.
