Abu Dhabi: Condolences poured in over the death of Shaikha Hessa Bint Mohammad Al Nahyan, the mother of President His Highness Shaikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan.
The Ministry of Presidential Affairs issued a statement on Sunday saying, “In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate, President His Highness Shaikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan mourns the death of Shaikha Hessa Bint Mohammad Al Nahyan, who passed away today.”
The ministry announced three days of official mourning beginning today.

The UAE leaders and members of the public took to social media to offer condolences over the death of Shaikha Hessa.
His Highness Shaikh Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, said on Twitter, “My sincere condolences to my brother Shaikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan on the death of Shaikha Hessa Bint Mohammad Al Nahyan. Our condolences to the entire Al Nahyan family, to the people of the UAE and to every lover of the UAE and its President,” Shaikh Mohammad said.
His Highness Shaikh Mohammad Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, also offered his condolences saying “With great sorrow and sadness, we have lost the mother of the head of state, Shaikha Hessa Bint Mohammad Al Nahyan.”
Shaikh Mohammad Bin Zayed paid tribute to Shaikha Hessa’s goodness and compassion towards her family and the people of the UAE and prayed for Almighty Allah to have mercy on her soul.

Their Highnesses the Supreme Council Members and the Rulers of the Emirates, Dr Shaikh Sultan Bin Mohammad Al Qasimi of Sharjah, Shaikh Humaid Bin Rashid Al Nuaimi of Ajman, Shaikh Hamad Bin Mohammad Al Sharqi of Fujairah, Shaikh Saud Bin Rashid Al Mualla of Umm Al Quwain and Shaikh Saud Bin Saqr Al Qasimi of Ras Al Khaimah, also mourned the death of Shaikha Hessa Bint Mohammed Bin Khalifa Al Nahyan, who passed away on Sunday.
They extended their deep condolences to Shaikh Khalifa and the entire Al Nahyan family, praying to Allah Almighty to rest Shaikh Hessa’s soul in peace.
The courts of Rulers of Sharjah, Ajman, Fujairah, Umm Al Quwain and Ras Al Khaimah announced a three-day mourning period. UAE flags will be flown at half-mast during the mourning period.
Shaikh Hamdan Bin Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, tweeted: “We extend our most sincere and heartfelt condolences to UAE President His Highness Shaikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan on the death of his mother Shaikha Hessa Bint Mohammad Al Nahyan."
Shaikh Hamdan prayed to Almighty Allah that her soul rests in eternal peace and to grant the Al Nahyan family peace and patience.
Shaikh Saif Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, prayed to God to forgive Shaikha Hessa and grant her mercy.
Shaikh Saif prayed to Almighty Allah she be granted entry into heaven and that Allah accept her good deeds.
Shaikh Hazza Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Chairman of Abu Dhabi Executive Council, tweeted: “We mourn the death of Shaikha Hessa and pray to Almighty Allah to accept all she offered in acts of kindness and giving and allow her to dwell in the highest paradise.”
