Abu Dhabi : The committee tasked with following up on the orders of President His Highness Shaikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan approved a number of vital projects at a total cost of Dh132 million.

The projects are in line with the directives of Shaikh Khalifa, and under the follow up of General Shaikh Mohammad Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Abu Dhabi Crown Prince and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces.

During the meeting chaired by Ahmad Juma Al Za’abi, Deputy Minister of Presidential Affairs, the committee approved the development of the Umm Al Quwain-Falaj Al Mualla intersection, which lies on Ittihad Road. Construction work includes a 50 metre tunnel heading towards the intersection, as well as a bridge that connects with Sharjah and Ras Al Khaimah. The project will cost Dh 110 million.

The development complements the recent inauguration of Ajman Bridge that is also located on Ittihad Road, thereby ensuring smooth traffic flow and a comprehensive traffic solution for the intersection and road. The development of the intersection also complements the Ras Al Khaimah Ring Road, and thus meets the committee’s plan for developing the traffic network of various emirates in the country.

The committee approved the construction of 27 villas for Emiratis in Falaj Al Mualla and Showka at a cost of Dh22 million. The first series of residential projects that were previously approved by the committee have been completed, and the committee is currently working on reviewing and approving the criteria for the distribution of housing.
