Bogota: Colombian President Juan Manuel Santos on Tuesday received Shaikh Abdullah Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, UAE Foreign Minister, upon his arrival in Bogota for an official visit.

During the meeting, Shaikh Abdullah and Santos discussed boosting cooperation between their countries in political, economic, investment and trade fields as well as renewable energy, agricultural and oil sectors in a mutually beneficial way.

The two sides also exchanged views on current developments in the region.

The Colombian President welcomed Shaikh Abdullah and his accompanying delegation, pointing out that his visit to Colombia reflects the keenness of UAE and Colombia’s leaderships on exchanging visits and meetings, and further developing bilateral relations to serve the interests of both countries and their peoples.

Santos stressed his country’s keenness to strengthen bonds of cooperation with the UAE.

He commended the economic developments achieved by the UAE, expressing hope that the relationship between the two countries would witness further progress and prosperity.

Shaikh Abdullah stressed that the UAE has succeeded in creating an enabling, economic and political environment geared towards achieving a global standard of human and economic development, which contributes to making the UAE one of the leading countries in the world to attract foreign investment.

The meeting was attended by Khalid Ghanem Al Ghaith, Assistant Foreign Minister for Economic Affairs, and Mohammad Issa Al Qattam Zaabi, UAE Ambassador to the Republic of Colombia.
