Shaikh Mohammad launches the Dress One Million Needy Children campaign to collect donations during Ramadan to dress and clothe one million needy children around the world. He has donated Dh60 million. The campaign eventually helps more than three million underprivileged children in countries all over the world.

Dubai Cares, the philanthropic organisation launched by Shaikh Mohammad five years ago, has touched the lives of seven million children through its primary education programmes in 28 developing countries. The organisation has so far built and renovated more than 1,500 schools and classrooms, provided more than 1,000 water wells, constructed 3,000 sanitation facilities, provided nutritious food to more than 490,000 students, helped train 23,000 teachers and distributed more than two million books.

Dubai Cares, the UAE-based philanthropic establishment led by Shaikh Mohammad, launches its Thirst for Education campaign to provide children in developing countries with access to clean drinking water. One way is through building wells in schools.

Shaikh Mohammad launches a new initiative aimed at curing one million people of visual impairments. The initiative is called Noor Dubai, which means ‘light’ in Arabic, with the long-term objective of a world free of blindness. Noor Dubai has since reached out to 6.2 million individuals around the world.

Shaikh Mohammad launches the Dubai Cares campaign to raise money to educate one million children in poor countries. The campaign is Dubai’s contribution to the UN Millennium Development Goals for providing primary education to every child by 2015.
