Ajman: All buildings in Ajman will soon have to install security surveillance systems in order to reduce crimes and improve the efficiency of interventions by security bodies.

According to a decree issued by His Highness Shaikh Humaid Bin Rashid Al Nuaimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Ajman, the sale of security and surveillance equipment will also be regulated.

The decree is based on a report submitted by the General Command of Ajman Police on the importance of issuing local legislation under which owners of buildings in Ajman will be obliged to install security surveillance equipment and devices.

The devices will be installed as per specifications set by the specialised department. The department also has the right to issue written orders to building owners obliging them to the link the building’s surveillance equipment with the security network, if deemed necessary due to a security threat.

The decree also stipulates that nobody will be allowed to practise any activity pertaining to security or security services without obtaining a licence from the specialised local authority, and any licence-issuing body in the emirate or any of its free zones will have to coordinate with the specialised authority before issuing licences for security activities.

Brigadier Shaikh Sultan Bin Abdullah Al Nuaimi, Commander-in-Chief of Ajman Police, said that the purpose of this decree is to strengthen security and stability in the emirate.

He expressed his thanks and appreciation to the Ruler of Ajman and Shaikh Ammar Bin Humaid Al Nuaimi, Crown Prince of Ajman, for their continuous support of the General Command of Ajman Police in order to maintain security and stability.
