Abu Dhabi: The system for youth councils across the UAE has been completed, while the Abu Dhabi Youth Council (ADYC) was formed yesterday (Wednesday).
Shamma Suhail Faris Al Mazroui, Minister of State for Youth, announced the completion of the system, while the formation of the ADYC was announced by the Emirates Youth Council and Abu Dhabi Executive Council (Adec).
“With the completion of the system for youth councils in the UAE, we are taking an important step forward that bolsters our efforts in empowering Emirati youth, living up to their aspirations and expectations so that their ideas can help form a comprehensive system for future sustainable development,” said Al Mazroui.
“The formation of youth councils in all emirates is a manifestation of our wise leadership’s support for all matters pertaining to youth and activating their role,” she added.
Dr Ahmad Mubarak Al Mazroui, secretary-general of Adec, said that the formation of ADYC, that will act as an operational arm for the UAE Youth Council, is a significant step towards empowering Emirati youth and providing them with a platform to present their ideas.
The move to set up youth councils is in line with the directives of His Highness Shaikh Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai. The orders emphasise the importance of listening to youth and learning about their ideas and proposals, which will be used to serve and develop the skills and knowledge of youths across the country. The move allows youth to play an effective role in achieving development that the UAE is striving for in order to become one of the top countries in the world by 2021.
