Abu Dhabi: The Abu Dhabi Monitoring and Control Centre (ADMCC) announced the launch of the ‘Falcon Eye’ system throughout the capital city, including the airport, main islands, and Bani Yas and Musaffah areas.
Falcon Eye is a complete central system that receives live feed from surveillance equipment installed across the city and provides smart warnings and allows quick access to events and incidents. The system offers other functions and features that correspond with the needs of key ADMCC partners at the service and security levels.
The system links thousands of cameras spread across Abu Dhabi, as well as thousands of other cameras installed at vital facilities and buildings in the emirate, via an electronic interface, and does smart analysis and issues case-by-case warnings that call for action from relevant entities. The system will help facilitate notifications and monitor and limit law violations.
The system will help control roads by monitoring traffic violations such as driving on hard shoulders and illegal and help deal with traffic accidents live. The system will also monitor the city for behavioural issues like public hygiene and incidents like people gathering in areas where they are not allowed to.
The system will mainly assist Abu Dhabi entities concerned with traffic monitoring, and will facilitate the management of traffic intersections to increase their efficiency and limit congestion during peak hours.
Major-General Mohammad Khalfan Al Romaithi, Commander-in-Chief of Abu Dhabi Police and ADMCC Board Chairman, said the system was “part of the vision of the emirate of Abu Dhabi to pursue its efforts to build a confident and safe society, and a sustainable and globally open and competitive economy”.
He said it has been launched on the directives of His Highness Shaikh Mohammad Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Abu Dhabi Crown Prince and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, and the follow-up of Shaikh Hazza Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Chairman of Abu Dhabi Executive Council, who have stressed the need to utilise technology and visual surveillance to increase security and safety, and facilitate the management of cities.
Saeed Saif Al Neyadi, ADMCC Director-General, said: “The state of continuous development Abu Dhabi is witnessing requires us to stay up-to-date with the latest global technologies and developments in this field to protect national gains and provide a suitable environment for the emirate’s progress and growth.”
