Ankara: The UAE has renewed its rejection of the coup attempt in Turkey and reaffirmed the importance of coordinating with Turkey in solving crises in the region, especially in Syria, Iraq, Yemen and Libya.
“We reiterate that we stand by Turkey in facing challenges and also in coordinating action with Ankara to deal with these challenges facing our region, especially in Iraq, Syria, Yemen and Libya, said Shaikh Abdullah Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, during a press conference with Turkish Foreign Minister Jawish Oglu, in Ankara.
Shaikh Abdullah expressed his pleasure at the strength and cohesion of the Turkish people behind their leadership.
He stressed that the recent meeting in Riyadh between the GCC countries and Turkey was an important step to strengthen the strategic relations and consultations to deal with the challenges threatening security and stability in the region.
Shaikh Abdullah thanked Turkey for its supportive stance towards the UAE’s right over its islands occupied by Iran and for backing the Arab Coalition supporting legitimacy in Yemen.
Shaikh Abdullah also expressed his happiness that Turkey and the GCC countries decided to reactivate their free trade agreement.
