Abu Dhabi: Shaikh Abdullah Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Foreign Minister, yesterday received Greek Foreign Minister Nikos Kotzias who is currently on a visit to the UAE.

They discussed bilateral relations and ways to bolster them, as well as a number of issues of mutual interest. Shaikh Abdullah welcomed the Greek minister and his delegation and stressed the UAE’s keenness to develop its relations with Greece, especially in light of the current conditions that Greece is passing through.

Shaikh Abdullah and Kotzias explored ways to enhance UAE-Greece relations in various fields to serve the interests of both nations and people in line with the eagerness of both leaderships to push their relations to broader horizons. They also discussed a number of issued of common interest and the latest regional and international developments and exchanged views about them.

During his visit to Greece in May 2014, announced the launch of a major Emirati-Greek investment project for development of the site of Athens old airport, at a total cost of over 7 billion Euros. Al Maabar International Investment will execute the multi-phase project.

During his visit, Shaikh Abdullah co-chaired the second meeting of the UAE.-Greece Joint Ministerial Committee in the capital, Athens, with Greek Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister, Evangelos Venizelo, in the presence of Dr. Sultan bin Ahmed Al Jaber, Minister of State.
