Ottawa: Shaikh Abdullah Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, met on Tuesday with Justin Trudeau, Prime Minister of Canada.

The meeting reviewed cooperation between the UAE and Canada and ways of boosting them, as well as ways to encourage investments.

Shaikh Abdullah stressed the importance of developing bilateral relations between the UAE and Canada in various fields.

Trudeau welcomed Shaikh Abdullah and his accompanying delegation, and added that Shaikh Abdullah’s visit to Canada comes in the framework of strengthening cooperation and relations between the two countries to serve the interests of both countries and peoples.

Shaikh Abdullah conveyed to Trudeau the greetings His Highness Shaikh Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai. Trudeau reciprocated the greetings of Shaikh Mohammad, and his best wishes for the UAE people for more progress and prosperity.

The meeting was attended by Mohammad Saif Hilal Al Shehi, UAE Ambassador to Canada.

Later, Shaikh Abdullah met with Marie-Claude Bibeau, Canada’s Minister of International Development and La Francophonie.

During the meeting, both sides discussed ways to boost cooperation and develop bilateral relations to serve the common interests of the two countries as well as exchanging views on a number of regional and international issues of common interest. Shaikh Abdullah stressed that the UAE’s foreign relations and its openness to the countries of the world support global efforts to promote development initiatives in all developing countries and communities.

Shaikh Abdullah also met with Daniel Jean, Canada’s National Security Adviser. They exchanged views on regional and international events, and their security and political repercussions. Shaikh Abdullah indicated the importance of bilateral cooperation to further serve society and consolidate relations in the field of combating terrorism and cross-border crimes.

Shaikh Abdullah then met with John McCallum, Canada’s Minister of Immigration. The meeting touched on issues of mutual concern and ways to strengthen bilateral cooperation.
