Sharjah: The Ruler’s Court of His Highness Dr Shaikh Sultan Bin Mohammad Al Qasimi, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Sharjah on Monday mourned the death of Shaikha Alya Bint Mohammad Bin Saqr Al Qasimi, the sister of the ruler and the mother of Shaikh Abdullah Bin Salim Bin Sultan Al Qasimi, Deputy Ruler of Sharjah.

The late Shaikha Alya, who is also the mother of Shaikh Mohammad Bin Salim Bin Sultan Al Qasimi and Shaikh Abdul Rahman Bin Salim Bin Sultan Al Qasimi, died on Monday morning according to a statement issued by the Ruler’s Court.

The funeral prayers will be held at King Faisal Mosque in Sharjah after Asr prayers after which her body will be buried at the Jubail Cemetery in the city.

The court has announced seven days of mourning in Sharjah with flags to fly at half-mast. Gulf News can clarify there will be no closure of government departments.

Men will offer their condolences to Shaikh Abdullah at Al Badie Palace for three days starting on Monday while women will offer their condolences at the Majlis of Shaikh Faisal Bin Khalid Bin Mohammad Al Qasimi, in the Al Ramla area of Sharjah for the same period.

Meanwhile President His Highness Shaikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan  sent a condolence cable to Dr Shaikh Sultan. He also sent a cable to Shaikh Abdullah on the death of his mother.

His Highness Shaikh Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai sent two condolence cables to the Ruler and Deputy Ruler of Sharjah.
