Dubai:As part of their efforts to inculcate safe riding behaviour among quad bike users, the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) recently held an educative show for teenagers.

Under the theme, ‘Safe Driving, More Fun’, the event saw participation of private and public school students from the secondary stages who were taken through programmes and process showing them ways to protect themselves and others from potential risks.

Abdullah Al Mahara, Acting Director of Monitoring and Enforcement at RTA, said: “Driving quad bikes is appealing to a wide spectrum of community members, particularly the youth, and we have therefore opted to guide them in a proper manner. This included educating them on the safe driving and optimal using of quad bikes in dessert terrains in a bid to protect them from the risks of reckless driving, and avoiding driving of these bikes in paved roads or residential areas due to the serious safety hazards involved.”

During the two-day show, which was held for the first time a number of professional users of quad bike enriched the campaign by narrating some previous practices encountered and focusing on wearing the helmet.

The programmes also included awareness lectures, which highlighted various risk factors, and showcased pictures of previous accidents and causes of those accidents.

Focus was also given to using proper protective gear while riding quad bikes.

The Show, which saw participation of 200 students from government and private schools in Dubai, also saw five dealers of quad bikes educating teens about various bike specifications.

The participants were also informed about the registration process for quad bikes.
