Dubai: His Highness Shaikh Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai yesterday honoured the winners of the 20th edition of the Dubai Government Excellence Programme (DGEP).

Shaikh Hamdan Bin Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Dubai Crown Prince and Chairman of Dubai Executive Council, and Shaikh Maktoum Bin Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Deputy Ruler of Dubai, also attended the award ceremony at the Dubai World Trade Centre.

Shaikh Mohammad honoured the winners of the award in various categories, including individuals and organisations. Ahmad Mohammad Darwish from Dubai Municipality and Shaikha Nasser Juma from the Legal Department received the distinguished new employee award.

The winners of the Best Customer Service Employee are Laila Shahmarad Jamal from Dubai Police and Amal Tawfiq Mohammad Abdullah from the Dubai Department of Economic Development.

Saeed Abdullah Al Qamzi from Dubai Police, Reem Hassan Esmail from Dubai Airports and Obaid Hassan Al Kaabi from Dubai Customs, won the best fieldwork employee award.

Samer Ayman Khawaja, Information System Specialist at Dubai Police, Abeer Abdullah Al Bannai from the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA), and Fadhel Khairallah Al Qassab from Civil Defence, won the best IT employee award.

Mohammad Eisa Al Matroushi from Dubai Police and Fayez Ahmad Ali Al Dhanhani from Dubai Courts won the best specialised employee award.

The best administrative employee award went to Rayan Ali Al Hammadi from Dubai Municipality, and Fatima Mohammad Al Marzouqi from Civil Defence.

Eisa Abdullah Al Alili from the Dubai Electricity and Water Authority, Juma Rashid Al Mazroui from Dubai Aviation Engineering Projects, won the best supervisory employee award. Alia Mohammad Rafea from Dubai Health Authority, and Mousa Abdullah Ali from Dubai Airports, won the best director award.

The award for best assistant director general/ managing director was given to Abdul Mohsin Ebrahim Younis from RTA, and Mohammad Ali Rashid Lootah from Department of Economic Development.

In the category of creative employees, Anwar Abdullah Mohammad Al Ali from Dubai Civil Defence, Mohammad Karam Mohammad Shahdad from Dubai Municipality, Adnan Ali Mohammad Ali from Dubai Police, Yousuf Hassan Abdulla Al Burai from Dewa and Ahmad Anbar Jowhar Al Falasi from Dubai Customs, were honoured as the best creative employees.

Dubai Municipality together with DP World won the award in the category of Best Joint Government Service. Dubai Courts won the award for the Happiest Work Environment. Dubai Airports, Dubai Aviation Engineering Projects, Roads and Transport Authority (RTA), and Department of Economic Development also won awards in various categories.

Dr. Ahmad Al Nusairat, Coordinator General of DGEP, thanked Shaikh Mohammad for attending the event and honouring the winners. “This year, DGEP recognised outstanding excellence demonstrated by government entities based on the fourth generation of the government excellence system, which focuses on innovation, creativity and global leadership, in addition to result-orientation,” Al Nusairat said.

A number of individuals, including the family of UAE martyr Jasem Eisa Mohammad Al Beloushi from Dubai Airports, were honoured in the category named ‘Unsung Heroes’.

Other winners in this category included employees from Dubai Health Authority, Dubai Municipality, Dubai Police, Department of Tourism and Commerce Marketing, Directorate of Residency and Foreigners Affairs, Department of Finance, RTA, DEWA, Community Development Authority, Public Prosecution Dubai, Dubai Statistics Center, Dubai Corporation For Ambulance Services, Dubai Civil Defence, Dubai Chamber Of Commerce, and Dubai Land Department.

RTA and the General Directorate for Residency and Foreigners’ Affairs won the award for being the special needs-friendly government body.

Shaikh Ahmad Bin Saeed Al Maktoum, President of Dubai Civil Aviation and Chairman and Chief Executive of Emirates Group, and Shaikh Ahmad Bin Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Chairman of Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Foundation, and a number of senior Dubai government officials also attended the award ceremony.
