Abu Dhabi: Emirates Identity Authority (Eida) announced that it will open six new registration centres at Preventative Medicine Centres (PMCs) this month in Abu Dhabi, Dubai, Ajman and Ras Al Khaimah.
With this the total number of registration centres will go up to 26 by the end of the year under the project linking visa medical tests and ID card registration, according to a statement issued by Emirates ID on Tuesday.
ID card registration has become mandatory for issuing and renewal of residence visas in all the emirates, except for Dubai where it will be effective from April next year in coordination with the General Directorate of Residency and Foreigners Affairs. The new centres which are due to open in the next two weeks are in Ajman and Ras Al Khaimah, and in Al Quoz, Satwa and Jafza in Dubai, as well as in Al Jazira building in Abu Dhabi.
The centre in the PMC in Al Quoz can register about 700 applicants per day, while the centre in Satwa can register about 1,000 applicants per day in two shifts. The Jebel Ali Free Zone centre can register about 250 applicants.
The two registration centres linked to PMCs in Ras Al Khaimah and Ajman can register approximately 600 applicants each per day. The centre in the capital's PMC as part of Mubadala group in Abu Dhabi can register 450 applicants a day.
Besides these centres, Emirates ID is working on opening two other centres.
