Dubai: Dubai Municipality has won the Arab Towns Organisation Award, which honours and supports best urban green space projects.

The announcement was made at a press conference at the award’s headquarters in Doha, Qatar.

The award is given to Arab cities that excel in projects for expanding, preserving and increasing green spaces.

Dubai Municipality was awarded for completing about 72 greenery and beautification projects in various parts of the city.

The jury had also considered the number of parks that are supervised by the civic body, as well as various other projects to plant trees and local plants, which were instrumental in reducing the carbon footprint in the city.
