Dubai: Better carry an umbrella if you are heading out this weekend.
The National Centre of Meteorology (NCM) has predicted wet, dusty and windy weather starting Friday. The forecast says that the weather will be “partly cloudy to cloudy at times over scattered areas of the country accompanied by some convective clouds and rainfall, especially over western and southern areas. Moderate to fresh winds, especially over the sea and open areas, will cause dust at times. The relative humidity is likely to increase during night and early morning times with a chance of mist/fog formation especially over internal and coastal areas”.
On Wednesday, the UAE experienced isolated showers in some areas and heavier rainfall along the coastal areas such as Umm Al Quwain and Ras Al Khaimah as large bands of rain clouds swept across the country.
Brisk winds whipped up sand and dust, reducing visibility in places such as Dubai and Sharjah where traffic slowed through midday.
Dubai and Sharjah experienced scattered showers at midday.
In Abu Dhabi, the NCM reported that the weather was “partly cloudy to cloudy at times over scattered areas of the country accompanied by convective clouds and rainfall from time to time”.
The lowest temperature recorded in the country at 3.45am on Wednesday was 10.1 degrees Celsius in Jebel Jais, the NCM said.
Temperatures reached up to 33C inland and 28C along coastal areas during the day.
Weather conditions for the next few days, said forecasters, will remain much the same with cloud and scattered rains.
On Thursday, the weather is expected to be “partly cloudy weather in general. The amount of clouds will increase from time to time accompanied with some convective clouds with a chance of rainfall over coasts, northern and western areas. Moderate to fresh winds at times, especially over the sea and exposed areas causing blowing dust at times.
