Abu Dhabi: Trees and plants have been planted across more than 267,000 square metres in the capital as part of a drive to green the city, the Municipality of Abu Dhabi City announced in a statement on Wednesday.
The drive, called Green Abu Dhabi, has ensured the maintenance of more than 4,280 date palms, and 659 trees of other species. More than 3,600 metres of plant fencing were also fixed or set up, while 521 decayed and damaged trees were removed. In addition, hedges were pruned, farm ponds were cleaned and dry leaves removed.
The campaign, which started a month ago in collaboration with Abu Dhabi Police and Tadweer, Abu Dhabi’s waste management authority, aims to maintain the general appearance of the city.
