Ras Al Khaimah: A 22-year-old Emirati man died and another young man was seriously injured in an accident in Ras Al Khaimah on Sunday evening, Colonel Ali Saeed Al Elkum, acting director of the Traffic and Patrols Department of Ras Al Khaimah Police, told Gulf News.

He said the victim, identified as Kh.A.A. was driving his vehicle at a high speed when another car emerged from a side road causing the victim to lose control of his car in a bid to avoid a collision.

The victim’s car veered to the left lane as it was speeding and jumped off the road, causing it to overturn several times.

The totally damaged vehicle landed on a sandy area while the second car was partially damaged.

A police patrol and ambulance rushed to the scene on receiving news of the incident, he added.

The young Emirati man was killed on the spot due to his injuries. His body was transferred to a hospital morgue .The body was handed over to his family for burial, while the second victim, who was identified as A.A.A., a 19-year-old Emirati, sustained serious injuries and was taken to hospital.

Colonel Al Elkum urged road users to abide by the speed limit specified on internal and external roads, and to use seat belts while driving in order to protect themselves and other road users.
