Dubai: The examination results of the 2014-2015 Grade 12 ministry examinations were revealed by the Ministry of Education, on Wednesday.
A total of 34,397 pupils from public schools and private schools that follow the Ministry’s curriculum sat for the Grade 12 exams across the UAE.
The pass rate in the literary section was 67.8 per cent, while in the scientific stream it was 89.4 per cent.
The pass rate in public schools’ scientific stream was 93.1 per cent and 83.3 per cent in the literary stream, while it was 91.2 per cent in the scientific section in private schools, and 83.7 per cent in the literary stream.
Minister of Education Hussain Bin Ebrahim Al Hammadi, said the ministry made sure the examinations this year measured the students’ level of understanding accurately.
He said the examinations were designed to not only measure students’ performance academically. It also aimed to measure their critical thinking skills.
The Minister thanked the UAE leadership, education zones and teachers for the efforts taken in advancing the level of education in the UAE. Al Hammadi said great efforts were taken by the ministry and teachers to make sure the examination environment is ideal for students to perform their best.
The breakdown of students who scored the highest in the emirate of Sharjah, Dubai and Abu Dhabi is as follows:
In Abu Dhabi, Mohammad Ababneh from Jordan scored the highest in the science stream with 99.8 per cent while Emirati Shaikha Khalil Ebrahim Khalil Al Marzouqi got the highest grade in the literature stream with 99.2 per cent.
In Dubai, Emirati Sara Abdul Rahman came on top in the scientific stream with 99.9 per cent, while Hind Ali Salem Ali Al Kaabi scored the highest in the literature stream with 99.88 per cent (Both students scored the highest in their respective streams at the UAE level as a whole).
In Sharjah, Egyptian student Islam Ebrahim scored the highest in the science stream with 99.95 per cent and Egyptian Eman Ridha Abdul Haleem scored the highest in the literature stream with 99.14 per cent.
