Dubai: Shaikha Latifa Bint Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice Chairman of the Dubai Culture & Arts Authority (Dubai Culture) has instructed to provide The Family Village, a home for orphaned children, with a library to strengthen the literary awareness of the children after her visit to the facility.

Shaikha Latifa also announced plans to provide fun-filled educational programmes and activities for the orphans at The Family Village and urged the participation of children from orphanages in various national and heritage celebratory events to be organised by the Dubai Public Library team.

The Library, to be developed under the guidance of Dubai Public Library, owned and managed by Dubai Culture, is envisaged to support education of the children and instill in them an abiding love for the written word, thus helping them to hone their creativity and expand horizons.

The library will ensure access to the best in children’s literature, thus fostering a love for the written word among children from a tender age.

Dubai Culture will also provide regular educational programmes to strengthen the skills of the children, who will also gain awareness on the rich Emirati heritage, in turn, reflecting Dubai Culture’s role in providing platforms for education through its repertoire of activities and initiatives.

The Family Village, launched by His Highness Shaikh Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, under the Awqaf & Minors Affairs Foundation, aims to offer an environment that is similar to that of a loving family, thus ensuring the young ones have a memorable childhood.

A team of staff is dedicated to attending to the children and providing an ideal family atmosphere.
