Abu Dhabi: His Highness Shaikh Mohammad Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Abu Dhabi Crown Prince and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, on Wednesday received engineers working on a development project for educational facilities across the UAE.
Shaikh Mohammad reviewed the project’s latest achievements as the Ministry of Education has recently completed the first phase of the project, which was launched at the end of the last academic year with a view to improving public schools across the UAE.
Shaikh Abdullah Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation and Chairman of the Education and Human Resources Council, was present.
The total number of retrofitted educational facilities was 24 schools and 16 kindergartens — seven premises in Ajman, 11 schools in Sharjah, eight premises in Fujairah, four schools in Dubai, a kindergarten in Umm Al Quwain and nine educational premises in Ras Al Khaimah.
Shaikh Mohammad stressed the importance of developing attractive schools that house state-of-the-art facilities to ensure an effective and integrated education, while taking into consideration utilising potential and making the most of development works to make the Emirati schools the best place for education.
According to the development plan, the Ministry of Education has set nine goals in order to uplift specifications of school premises, namely developing architectural facades and exterior walls; introducing canteens; developing the reception lounge and main entrance; introducing a community innovation centre that includes robot laboratories, learning resources and a gym; developing administrative rooms and classrooms and making use of spaces; improving laboratories and school facilities; closing and air-conditioning all corridors; improving landscape and green areas; and introducing fire extinguishing systems and fire alarms.
The meeting was attended by Hussain Ebrahim Al Hammadi, Minister of Education; Jameela Salem Al Muhairi, Minister of State for Public Education; Ahmad Abdullah Humaid Bel Houl Al Falasi, Minister of State for Higher Education, and a number of officials.
