Dubai: One of India’s oldest education groups, which runs more than 500 educational institutions, has announced its entry into the UAE with the launch of a new school in Dubai.

The 184-year-old CMI Group opened the doors to its latest initiative, AMLED School, located behind Al Khail Mall, in the Al Khail area of Dubai.

The new school will offer the CBSE curriculum from kindergarten to Grade 5 in the 2015-2016 academic year.

The Kerala-based CMI has created a legacy in education, providing education from pre-primary to post-doctoral levels, including medicine, engineering, management, arts, and social sciences.

The group’s most sought after institutions include Christ University (Bengaluru), Rajagiri Higher Secondary School and Rajagiri Public School (both in Kalamassery), to name a few.

The UAE has an extremely high number of CMI institutions’ alumni and Varghese Puthusserry, Principal of AMLED School, said there was a huge demand from ex-students living and working in the region for a school that could impart similar education standards to their children.

The group plans to launch new schools in 2017 in Abu Dhabi and Sharjah, in addition to a new location in Dubai.

Dr Mathew Vattathara, Director of AMLED School, said that the new school was a launch-pad for the group’s ambitious plans for the UAE. “CMI Rajagiri is keen to spread its educational footprint across the world and the UAE emerged as a natural choice due to the high number of Indian expatriates in the country.”

AMLED School is a joint undertaking between CMI Rajagiri Province and the Amled Facilities Management LLC chaired by Ahmad Khalil Khalid Al Meraikhi.
