Dubai: A new Indian curriculum school launched its admissions process in Dubai on Sunday and is set to commence classes in April.
Al Sabari Indian School (SIS), which is part of the Sabari Group, follows the CBSE-i curriculum and will initially enrol pupils from the kindergarten level to Grade 5 but sees itself offering classes for higher grades in the near future.
“I see an urgent need for quality education and we aim to create and nurture a learning culture that will bring about transformation through education,” said Sabari Group chairman K.R.V. Ramani.
The SIS campus is located on a 100,000-square-metre site in Al Wuheida area in Dubai and is looking to attract students from both Sharjah and Dubai. The school will have a capacity for 850 students, accommodating 25 students in each class.
One of the academic directors of the institution, Nitya Ramaswami, detailed some of the education methods the school is seeking to implement for Gulf News. “The 18-step approach is a new approach adopted by SIS to prepare students to work in the 21st century workforce. The 18 steps are divided into 3 runs to encompass a complete spectrum of value-based skills to be developed in children.”
SIS also seeks to provide an inclusive learning environment in accordance with standards set by the Knowledge and Human Development Authority (KHDA). SIS will provide special training for educators to assist children with special needs besides having on-campus counsellors.
The CBSE-i curriculum will include Islamic Studies and Arabic language classes are also on the cards.
Principal Pamela Ghosh said the school will offer a reasonable fee structure that targets middle class families. The annual tuition fee for SIS students will range from Dh11,630 to Dh13,430. Children enrolling from kindergarten to Grade 3 will initially be eligible for fee discounts.
