Dubai: His Highness Shaikh Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, on Wednesday surprised top high school achievers by announcing top scorers for the 2014-2015 academic year before the official announcement of the results of Grade 12 exams.

The announcement came as Shaikh Mohammad met top high school achievers from the literary, scientific, applied technology and technical streams, who did not even know their own ranking, at Zabeel Palace.

Shaikh Mohammad congratulated them for achieving excellence through perseverance. Shaikh Hamdan Bin Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, and Shaikh Hamdan Bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, were present.

Shaikh Mohammad congratulated Emirati Sara Abdul Rahman Ahmad who topped the scientific stream with 99.9 per cent, and Egyptian Noorhan Salah Al Deen Ali who also topped the scientific stream with 99.9 per cent. Mohammad Abdullah Al Gergawi, Minister of Cabinet Affairs, and Hussain Bin Ebrahim Al Hammadi, Minister of Education, were also present.

Grade 12 exam results for UAE pupils announced

The Ministry of Education announced the results of grade 12 exams of UAE’s public schools for the academic year 2014-2014 on Wednesday.

A total of 34,397 pupils sat for the grade 12 exams across the UAE.

Emirati pupils topped the list of top achievers in both scientific and literary streams.

The pass rate in the literary section was 67.8 per cent, and 89.4 per cent in the scientific stream. The pass rate in public schools’ scientific stream was 93.1 per cent, and 83.3 per cent in the literary stream, while it was 91.2 per cent in the scientific section in private schools, and 83.7 per cent in literary stream.

In the scientific stream, Emirati Sara Abdul Rahman Ahmad who topped the scientific stream with 99.9 per cent from the scientific stream, and Egyptian Noorhan Salah Al Deen Ali who also topped the scientific stream with 99.9 per cent.

In the literary section, Emirati Hind Ali Salim Mohammad Al Kaabi topped the list of achievers, with 99.88 per cent, and Fatima Abdul Latif Mohammad Ebrahim came second, with 99.81 per cent.
