Dubai: Innovation will be the main theme of the second Knowledge Conference to be held in Grand Hyatt Dubai, said Jamal Bin Huwaireb, Managing Direction of the Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Foundation (MBRF).

The three-day conference will be held from December 7 to 9 this year with education, information technology and research as key pillars. This year’s event will host an array of knowledge experts from diverse sectors in addition to diplomats and government representatives.

His Highness Shaikh Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, witnessed both the inaugural event and announcement of the winner of the Shaikh Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Knowledge Award. The award is given to international personalities who have contributed to the dissemination of knowledge.

Bin Huwaireb explained that education was chosen as one of the major pillars given its significance in the development of society.

“The quality of education is closely linked to social development. They are two sides of the same coin as building human capital is critical to achieving sustainable development and social justice to improve the quality of life of the people,” he said.

He added that discussions related to the role of education in the development process of society will give stakeholders the opportunity to examine the latest innovative trends, best practices and latest technologies in the education sector.

Bin Huwaireb highlighted the importance of research in the progression of societies and nations since research-led technological development has helped raise human capabilities.

“It is a pivotal area that influences development efforts, scientific and technological status, infrastructure capabilities and knowledge dissemination in any country,” he said.
