Abu Dhabi: Emirati undergraduates and pupils enrolled in Grade 12 can now apply for scholarships to study at universities across the UAE during the 2015-2016 academic year, the Abu Dhabi Education Council (Adec) announced in a statement sent today (March 30).

Applications will be accepted until April 15 for the 2015-2016 academic year for enrolment in programmes in the fields of medicine, economics, accounting, finance, education, urban planning, chemical engineering, electrical engineering and mechanical engineering. Awardees must ideally be less than 24 years of age with a score of 85 per cent on their General Secondary Certificate. In the case of university students, they must have completed 30 credit hours in an Adec-approved major, and have maintained a coumulative grade point average of 3.0.

Till date, 1,380 students have been granted the annual Adec scholarship, which gives them a range of benefits, including tuition fees, monthly stipends, travel costs, housing allowance and medical insurance.
