Sharjah: The first UAE chapter of the Indywood Educational Excellence Awards was held on Tuesday in Sharjah to recognise efforts made by educational organisations and administrators.
During the awards ceremony held at Ocean Blue Theatre, Gulf News reporter Faisal Masudi was conferred the award for the Best Education Reporter.
The event was attended by Sumathi Vasudev, consul (press, information, education, consular, and community affairs and welfare), Consulate General of India, Dubai; and Dr Bjorn Kjerfve, chancellor, American University of Sharjah, among others.
The ceremony bestowed awards in various categories, including Special Recognition and Hall of Fame.
A panel discussion on ‘Methods, Media and Technology in Facilitating Learning’ was also held during the ceremony.
Indywood Educational Excellence Awards — UAE Chapter was organised as a part of Project Indywood, a $10-billion (Dh36.7 billion) project to be initiated by a consortium of 2,000 Indian corporations and millionaires to boost the Indian economy under the aegis of the government of the Indian state of Telangana.
The national-level Indywood Educational Excellence Awards in India will be organised in concurrence with the Indywood Film Carnival at Ramoji Film City, Hyderabad, from December 1 to 4.
