Sharjah: Investment and Development Authority (Shurooq) launched an initiative to support Sharjah as the best child-friendly city.

Titled ‘Baby Nurture’, the three-day event incorporates a series of seminars and interactive workshops that seek to educate parents about the importance of providing the very best care for their young ones to ensure their healthy growth and development.

Taking place from April 28 to April 30 (from 5pm to 10pm), ‘Baby Nurture’ is being held in collaboration with the Sharjah Baby-Friendly Campaign and will comprise an array of activities that relate to the fundamentals of child-rearing, motherhood and the creation of a happy family environment.

The programme aims to target mothers, fathers, pregnant women and children.

Activities at the event include multiple entertainment shows for children, diverse workshops highlighting multiple topics on child safety, face painting, magic shows, as well as a fitness corner and free medical check-up for all visitors.

Ahmad Obaid Al Qaseer, chief operating officer at Shurooq, said; “Investment in the health and well-being of families and children forms part of our strategy to enhance the quality of life in the emirate of Sharjah.”

Al Qaseer pointed out that Baby Nurture’s main programme includes nine important areas — traffic safety, the role of parents in raising their children, the importance of child education, childhood diseases, sustainability and environment, children’s health and hygiene, working mothers, cancer and maternal health. The topics target children nine years of age and younger and encourages the involvement of mothers, fathers and other family members.

Al Qaseer said that the ‘Baby Nurture’ activities will be held at Al Majaz Waterfront — Sharjah’s leisure and tourist destination — and will feature the participation of a number of acclaimed doctors, physicians and education experts. He added that New Medical Centre Sharjah and Zulekha Hospital will offer free medical services and examinations to children and pregnant women.
