Dubai: Al Jalila Foundation has allocated Dh4 million for the 2015-2016 scholarship programme, which is open to all Emirati students who wish to pursue postgraduate studies in medical and health sciences in the UAE.

The foundation is a global philanthropic organisation dedicated to transforming lives through medical education and research, and is welcoming Emirati medical students to apply for postgraduate medical scholarships for the third year.

“This year we look forward to receiving applications covering an even wider range of specialities that will help broaden the UAE’s medical capabilities, so that it can continue to offer its citizens world-class health care in line with UAE Vision 2021,” said Dr Abdul Kareem Al Olama, CEO of Al Jalila Foundation.

The scholarships aim to extend financial support to aspiring Emirati health-care professionals to help them specialise and further build their skills and credentials in the health-care sector.

The application deadline for Al Jalila Foundation postgraduate medical scholarships for the 2015-2016 academic year is July 31, and successful applicants will be announced in September.

Since its inception Al Jalila Foundation has awarded 19 scholarships to postgraduate studies in nursing, dentistry and public health at institutions across the UAE. Two of the first scholarship recipients to be funded by Al Jalila Foundation will graduate from The Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland — Dubai later this year.
