The Woodlem Park School will set up the library, which will be open to the public, under the Shaikh Zayed Chair established at the school to commemorate the Year of Zayed, the school said in a press release.
Shaikh Dr Majid Bin Saeed Al Nuaimi, chairman of Rulers Court – Ajman, and the chief patron of Woodlem Park School, announced the establishment of Shaikh Zayed Chair during the first Open Day celebrations at the school on Friday.
The induction of the Chair was declared by Shaikh Abdullah Bin Majid Al Nuaimi, the chairman of Woodlem Park School.
Dr Sheena Shukkur, CEO of the school, said the purpose of the Shaikh Zayed Chair is to explore innovative ways to commemorate Shaikh Zayed’s legacy across the country and abroad.
“The school will make an exclusive Shaikh Zayed Library, which will have a comprehensive and all-inclusive collection of the history, contributions and the values instilled by His Highness Shaikh Zayed during his golden era. The library will not only be open to the Woodlem educational institutions, but also to the public,” the principal said.
The Chair will organise national and international seminars, workshops and a variety of other programes and initiatives highlighting the inspiring vision and transformative impact of Shaikh Zayed and other UAE leaders within the country and all over the world. It will also promote and facilitate collaborative and/or interdisciplinary research about the rich heritage and culture of the UAE and the role of UAE leaders in giving the country a leading place among nations of the world.
As the first project of the Chair, the Journal of Woodlem Park School (JWPS) was dedicated to Shaikh Zayed. The journal features original works of art and articles compiled by students of the school. The maiden copy was released by Shaikh Abdullah, the school’s chairman, and handed over to Pankaj Bodkhe, consul for education at the Indian consulate in Dubai.
