Dubai: In recognition of their outstanding academic performance, 21 GEMS Education students were awarded the prestigious Shaikh Maktoum Bin Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Cambridge Outstanding Learner Awards.

These awards celebrate the outstanding academic achievements of secondary school students in 41 different countries, based on the 2014 Cambridge examination series last June.

In a ceremony that took place at GEMS Wellington Academy - Al Khail, one particular student received special distinction. Ayesha Memon, from Our Own English High School in Fujairah, received a Top of the World award for obtaining the highest marks in the world for the Cambridge IGCSE mathematics examination. Thirteen other students received Top of the UAE awards, for scoring the highest marks in the UAE in a variety of subjects of the IGCSE, A Level and AS Level examinations.
