Umm Al Quwain: Two men were arrested in Umm Al Quwain for allegedly robbing customers coming out of banks, police said on Thursday.

The suspects, from an African country, were arrested in cooperation with Dubai Police in just 48 hours after the crime was committed.

Major Marwan Rashid Mohammad, head of the Anti-Organised Crime Section at Umm Al Quwain Police, said the suspects monitored customers who withdrew money from banks and robbed them as they came out on the road or and got inside their vehicles.

The arrest was made after police received a complaint from an Asian man who was targeted by the suspects. The victim told police that a little while after he had withdrawn money from a bank in Umm Al Quwain and kept the money in his car, he found the glass window of his car broken and the money stolen.

The suspects confessed to snatching the money in a few seconds.

The case has been referred to the Public Prosecution.
