Sharjah: A-22-year-old Gulf national was arrested for driving without a driving licence and forging the number plate of his vehicle, in addition to driving under the influence of a narcotic substance.

The arrest was made on Al Dhaid Road when a police patrol spotted the driver’s suspicious behaviour.

When police approached the vehicle, they found that the driver, identified as S.A.S., was with another man, identified as K.A.Z, 20, both Gulf nationals, who were behaving strangely. Both of them were taken to the police station for questioning.

During interrogation, police learnt that the driver had no driving licence, had replaced his vehicle with another and both men were under the influence of drugs.

The police also found that the driver had been involved in an accident with another car on Maleiha Road two months ago, subsequent to which he had fled the scene of the incident as he was driving his friend’s vehicle.

The two men have been placed under arrest and the case referred to the public prosecution.

The driver is being charged with driving without a licence, forging a number plate and endangering the lives of others while his friend has been charged with consuming drugs.
