Sharjah: Authorities have arrested 10 women and two men in two separate operations against massage parlours for providing illicit and indecent services to clients.
Ten of the suspects are Thai and two men are Bangladeshi.
Sharjah Police CID officers raided the two massage centres in Sharjah after receiving a tip off that a group of Thai women were working at men’s massage centres and providing services to clients for up to Dh150 per hour.
Police officials said that the two massage centres were found to be involved in illegal activities at the time of the raids.
In the first operation, eight people — six women and two Bangladeshi men — were arrested.
Three of the women arrested, police said, offered their immoral service for Dh100 per hour.
Police investigations revealed that the six Thai women were violating the norms of visit visas and working with other parties. They came here on the sponsorship of a hotel.
In the second operation, four Thai women were arrested for providing illicit massages to men for Dh150 per hour.
The twelve suspects have been referred to the public prosecution for further action.
Sharjah Police urged the public to report any unlawful, immoral and indecent activities which are provided by such hubs because they are a big risk to society.
Police also urged massage centres to adhere to norms and law of the state to avoid any legal action against them.
