Dubai: The courts in Abu Dhabi will hold the first session of the trial into Azan Majid Janjua’s murder this Tuesday, almost two months after the suspect was arrested.
Abu Dhabi Public Prosecution announced that the Pakistani suspect, who was a friend of the victim’s family, has been referred to the Criminal Court.
Azan went missing on May 30, and his body was found the next morning by AC technicians, who climbed up to the building’s rooftop to check a malfunctioning chiller.
Counsellor Ali Mohammed Al Balushi, Attorney-General of Abu Dhabi, said he hoped the family and members of the community would find some form of comfort in the way the case was handled, “resulting in the arrest of the suspect and his confession, which were fully supported by strong technical and circumstantial evidence.”
Al Balushi also stressed on the Public Prosecution’s keenness to achieve justice for Azan, 11, and his family.

The suspect was referred to the Abu Dhabi Prosecution on the charges of premeditated murder, after the suspect raped the child, and strangled him with a rope.
The suspect was also charged with cross-dressing and violating traffic laws, as he was caught driving a vehicle without the rear license plate.
The prosecution added that the case included murder and forced sodomy, which is punishable by execution in accordance with Islamic law, as well as according to the Federal Penal Code.
According to previous Gulf News reports, Abu Dhabi Police said that the cross-dressed as a woman to allegedly mislead the boy to the rooftop of the building to commit the crime.
Police also released video footage that was taken on the day of the murder.

In the 20-second video clip, which was revealed exclusively by Abu Dhabi’s television programme Oloum Al Dar, viewers can watch the suspect disguised as a woman as he makes his way from the street into the building.
The video then shows the suspect carrying a bag, and walking behind the victim, as they both enter the elevator and made their way to the roof.
