Sharjah: A speeding motorist was killed when his car hit a lamp post on Corniche Road in Kalba city, Sharjah.

According to Sharjah Police, the driver, a 29-year old Emirati identified as M.O.K., died on the spot.

The vehicle was completely destroyed.

The police operation room received a call reporting the incident. Paramedics and an ambulance moved to the scene of the incident where the man was pronounced dead.

The body was moved to Kalba Hospital and later handed over to his family for burial.

Meanwhile, A driver has been arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving in connection with the death of a Bangladeshi man who was killed as he was cycling on a busy road in Shabyat Jebel Omar in Kalba.

The driver was arrested and taken into police custody for interrogation.

The 45-year-old Bangladeshi cyclist suffered serious injuries and was taken to hospital, where he later died.

In a separate incident, a 35-year-old Filipino, identified as J.O., was killed after being run over in Al Saja’a area of Sharjah.

The body of the man has been taken to Al Kuwaiti hospital morgue.

The driver who caused the accident has been taken into police custody for interrogation .

Al Saja’a police station has launched an investigation into the incident.
