Dubai: A teacher who hugged a 15-year-old schoolgirl and kissed her twice while giving her a lesson in a private teaching centre, has been sentenced to six months in jail.

The Emirati schoolgirl claimed that the 45-year-old Palestinian teacher spoke to her indecently and allegedly told her that she aroused him during the private lesson before he molested her.

Records said the 15-year-old girl pushed the defendant, K.Y., twice and repeatedly asked him to keep his mouth shut before she stormed out of the centre in Hor Al Anz on May 19.

On Sunday, the Dubai Court of First Instance convicted K.Y. of molesting the schoolgirl by touching her against her will and kissing her.

The accused will be deported following the completion of his punishment.

The girl testified that the incident happened when the teacher was giving her a private lesson.

“We were in a teaching room. He started sweet talking me and called me princess. I gave him a smile only because he was my teacher. When he first touched my hand, I pulled it away immediately. He gave me some classwork and I felt scared when he grabbed my right hand suddenly… I pulled it away quickly. I moved my head away when he put his palm on my cheek. He gave me new classwork. To my utmost surprise, he kissed me. I pushed him and he sat back in his chair. He spoke to me about sex and used explicit language… I stormed out of the room immediately after he kissed me the second time,” the schoolgirl claimed to prosecutors.

Records said the victim dropped her calculator when she was running out of the centre to her mother’s car. She cried a lot and told her mother that she wished she had an older brother, according to records.

The 15-year-old was said to have revealed her ordeal to her elder sister which was overheard by the mother.

An Emirati policeman claimed that the suspect was arrested shortly after the girl’s father reported him to the police.

The policeman said the teacher denied his accusations; however, K.Y. did not deny the possibility that he could have mistakenly touched the victim’s hand.

Sunday’s judgement remains subject to appeal within 15 days.
