Sharjah: A Pakistani man who was kidnapped by his fellow countrymen following a financial dispute was recently rescued by Sharjah Police.
The abductors demanded a Dh400,000 ransom as the man had allegedly cheated one of them of that amount.
A police official said the hostage had phoned the police operations room saying four Pakistani men had kidnapped him and locked him in a container in Industrial Area 3.
Investigations confirmed that he had been kidnapped.
The police formed a team to identify the kidnappers and locate where the victim was being held hostage.
The container was raided by police and the kidnappers were arrested. They said that they had kidnapped the victim due to a financial dispute.
The gang members told police the victim had borrowed Dh400,000 from one of the perpetrators two years ago and had promised to return the money.
The victim also received a death threat if he did not return the money.
The suspects have been detained and the case has been referred to Sharjah Public Prosecution.
Lieutenant Colonel Abdul Razzaq Al Asadi, director of the Criminal Investigation Department at Sharjah Police, urged the public not to respond to ploys used by perpetrators of such crimes to lure their victims.
