Dubai: Police have nabbed yet another reckless driver who removed his vehicle’s number plate and caused chaos on Dubai roads.

This is the third reckless driver to be caught in Dubai in less than two months for endangering the lives of others, among other offences.

It follows a case earlier this week in which another reckless driver was ordered to pay Dh500,000 for damage to roads.

Colonel Saif Muhair Al Mazroui, Director of Dubai Traffic Police, said the man had also modified the car’s engine to increase its speed.

He said police tracked the man after he drove chaotically on Jumeirah Road and then drove in a way that endangered himself and those around him at midnight on the Dubai-Al Ain Road.

He tried to evade the police when they were trying to catch him by taking the Jebel Ali — Al Hibab Road.

He was later caught and taken to the Dubai Traffic Police Department where they impounded his car for committing multiple dangerous traffic violations.

He was issued fines for driving recklessly, driving a vehicle without number plates, driving in a way that is dangerous to the public, modifying the vehicle’s engine without permission, driving an unsafe vehicle, and running away from a traffic policeman.

Col Al Mazroui urged the public to abide by traffic rules so as to avoid deaths.

The public can report anyone who breaks traffic laws, either by calling 901 or 8007777 or 8004353 or through email on mail@dubaipolice.gov.ae.

People can also report anyone breaking Dubai’s traffic laws on the Dubai Police website or through Dubai Police’s smartphone app under “we are all police”.
